Description
Actinidia arguta Ananasnaya, also known as the Female Kiwi Berry Ananasnaya, is known for its exceptional productivity. This kiwi berry produces delicious fruit with a surprising pineapple flavour and a smooth skin that can be eaten without peeling. This female variety is mainly pollinated by the self-fertile variety Issai or male weiki.
Ananasnaya kiwi berry is cold-resistant to -28°C and reaches a height of 3-4 metres and a width of 1-2 metres at maturity. With its attractive deciduous leaves, it unfurls creamy white flowers in May and June, followed by small oblong fruits that are harvested between September and October. When ripe, the kiwifruit develops a smooth, green skin that turns red on the sunny side. The taste of the juicy, fragrant and very sweet flesh is unmistakably reminiscent of pineapple. They can be eaten fresh or serve as a tasty addition to a fruit salad. Ananasnaya kiwis can be stored for a long time.
This kiwi berry thrives in well-drained soil and likes plenty of light. It can be planted against a trellis, fence, in the ground or in a container. Actinidia arguta Ananasnaya is pruned annually in March, with two eyes on the fruiting branches.
