Set of 2 Grapes – Vitis vinifera 'Rondo' – With its beautiful flowering in May-June and the promise of sweet, dark blue grapes that ripen in September.
This special variety, originally bred by Professor V. Kraus in the Czech Republic and further developed by Professor Dr. Helmut Becker in Germany, originated from a cross between Zarya Severa and St. Laurent.
To allow the grapes to ripen perfectly, you can cut away the leaves around the bunches in the last weeks before harvest. This fast-growing grape thrives best in full sun and can reach a height of 300 cm. Winter-hardy and deciduous, this grape does need a little guidance.
With a reasonable resistance to fungal diseases and a tendency to suffer little from attack, Rondo is a strong choice for the garden. Its vigorous, slightly trailing growth habit results in a bountiful harvest. The berries, medium to large, are deep blue and perfectly separated from each other to minimize the risk of attack.
The Rondo not only offers an excellent harvest, but also the possibility of making a beautiful dark red wine. With its characteristic Burgundy tones and an aroma of cherries, plums, flowers, grapes and a hint of smoke, this grape is a valuable addition to any garden.
