Discover the unique Vitis vinifera 'Cabernet Cortis', a red grape variety with a story that goes back to 1982. This special variety, developed by Norbert Becker at the prestigious Freiburg Research Institute in southern Germany, combines the power of Cabernet Sauvignon with the versatility of Solaris. It was not until 2003 that this top variety was officially registered in the German grape variety register, and surprisingly, Italy only followed in 2011.
Features:
- Bountiful Harvest: The Cabernet Cortis thrives in low light. Its leaves, similar to those of the Cabernet Sauvignon, are deeply incised and five-fingered, with a strong green color. In October, the harvest-ripe grape adorns the vines.
- Robust Resistance: This variety defies downy mildew, powdery mildew and botrytis. The resulting deep red wine is rich in tannins and takes some time to soften its power and reach its full flavour.
