Sedum telephium 'Munstead Dark Red', also known as Lardwort, is an easy and sturdy perennial that brightens up your garden in late summer and autumn. From August to October, it blooms with pretty, dark pink to brick-red flowers sitting in full clusters on sturdy stems. The plant grows about 40-50 cm high and has grey-green leaves that match the striking flower colour well. It can sometimes fall apart a bit, but that doesn't make it any less suitable for a border - in groups it often stays more solid.
This Sedum likes a sunny spot and grows well in almost any soil, as long as it is not too wet. It needs little water and can withstand drought well, which makes it perfect for a sunny garden or dry corner. Its late flowering brings colour when many other plants have already finished flowering, and it attracts bees and butterflies, giving your garden a cosy atmosphere. You can also use it in pots or as a border plant, but it really comes into its own in a border with other plants.
In terms of care, it is very simple: a sunny location is enough, and apart from that it does it by itself. It is completely hardy, so there is no need to worry about cold. 'Munstead Dark Red' is a reliable choice for those looking for a plant that adds some spice late in the season. With its dark flowers and easygoing nature, it is a fine addition to any garden!
