Deze zwarte bes is een zeer productieve bessoort. Ribes nigrum ‘Titania’ is vooral bekend voor cassis dat men van deze bes maakt. Dit ras geeft jong al grote aantallen sappige bessen in grote trossen. Hij is goed winterhard en bestand tegen late vorst. Deze plant lokt bijen en vlinders tijdens de bloei. Andere naam voor de ribes nigrum ‘Titania’is ook wel zwarte aalbes.
