Description
The Pyrus communis 'Williams' is a delicious hand pear with a sweet taste. The pears are yellow in colour and have a recognisable musky taste. The pear 'Williams' is a self-pollinator, which means that it can produce good fruit without pollination.
The pear tree blooms in April/May with white flowers and decorates with beautiful white blossom in the spring. The picking time is August and the pears can be stored for a few days. The location of the Pyrus communis 'Williams' is in full sun, but light shade is also tolerated.
This pear tree is a medium, strong grower that is well resistant to fungal diseases. It is self-pollinating, so it does not need a pollinator to produce fruit, but another pollinator can ensure a richer harvest. Good pollinators for the Williams pear tree are Clapp's Favourite and Doyenne du Comice.
The Williams pear tree is an average grower with a wide pyramidal and semi-open crown. This species belongs to the Rosaceae family and grows to a height of about 3 to 4 meters. The pears can be harvested around September.
