Ficus carica 'Col de Dame Blanch', or Col de Dame Blanch / Ficus Carica Cuello de Dama Blanco Fig tree, is an ancient variety known as one of the tastiest figs. The fruits are green-yellow in colour with dark red flesh, offering a unique taste experience.
The harvest of this fig tree takes place in autumn. It is a very old variety that has a unique characteristic: the fruits ripen from late September to late October, even into November. They are resistant to bad weather thanks to their thick skin. This late ripening makes Col de Dame Blanch suitable for Mediterranean climates, where the fruits can withstand the cold of autumn.
This fig tree produces large oblong fruits of about 60 g with a thick, golden yellow to yellow-green skin and beautifully sweet red flesh. From appetiser to dessert, this fruit with exceptional flavour qualities enriches all culinary preparations.
Col de Dame Blanch can withstand temperatures down to -15°C, but restarts from the stalk when temperatures reach -20°C. With medium growth, it reaches a height of 3.5 to 5 m and a spread of 5 to 6 m. The flowering period is from May to June.
This fig tree thrives best in a sunny location, protected from north winds, in a neutral to limestone, stony and well-drained soil. The Col de Dame Blanch is known for its excellent flavour, with a sweet, aromatic and fine texture. Although the fruits are small, they are extremely tasty and suitable for immediate eating or drying, allowing you to enjoy the delicious figs from your own garden for longer.
