Description
Fagus sylvatica ' Atropunicea' is the red hornbeam , used for one of the most popular hedges today. The leaves of Hornbeams turn brown in autumn and winter but remain on the tree. As soon as new leaves develop in spring, the hornbeam drops the old leaves to make room for the beautiful new red leaves. Did you know that the place where most mosquitoes breed is a conifer hedge? You won't suffer from that with a beech hedge!!!
