Brunnera macrophylla 'Sea Heart', also called Caucasian forget-me-not, is a sturdy plant with beautiful silver-grey leaves that stand out in the garden. In April and May, it blooms with small, light blue flowers resembling common forget-me-nots. It grows about 40 cm high and grows well in semi-shade, but can also stand in the sun. Its leaves are thicker and sturdier than those of 'Jack Frost' and tolerate more sunlight.
This plant hardly proliferates and fits well in a border with other plants. Place it in nutritious, cool soil that is well-watered but not too wet. It needs little care: if the leaves become unsightly, cut them away and it will grow back fresh. An easy and beautiful choice!
